Minerva box wallet with vintage Japanese coin snap
Minerva box wallet with vintage Japanese coin snap
This snap wallet is handmade using Minerva Box veg-tan leather shoulder in natural. Minerva Box comes from the Badalassi Carlo tannery in Italy - it's a beautifully soft, tumbled leather with a natural pebbled surface. This natural beige will very quickly patina into a deep tan colour unique to the user.
The outer snap head is a genuine Japanese 10 sen coin dating from between 1907-1917 curved into a dome shape. It looks stunning and gives this wallet something really unique. These vintage sen coins are a mix of around 70% silver with copper so have an intrinsic value as well as being really interesting!
The layout gives you 3 slots on the inside along with a fast access pocket on the outside. On the inside, the middle card pocket has internal stitching so cards won't slip down further than shown, while the rear pocket is full depth so can take smaller banknotes. It's all saddle-stitched together by hand using beige Vinymo thread from Japan.
