About Buck&Hide: handmade leather goods from the UK

Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m originally from picturesque North Devon, now based in Warwickshire, and I’ve spent my career working in creative industries in the UK and overseas. Buck&Hide grew from a love of design, quality materials and traditional craftsmanship, and I now make every piece myself in my workshop.

Handmade leather goods, made by me.

Every Buck&Hide piece is handmade by me from start to finish. I work primarily with vegetable-tanned leather from specialist craft tanneries in Italy and the USA, alongside solid brass and other carefully chosen hardware.

Vegetable-tanned leather is a traditional tanning process that gives the leather depth, character and longevity. It has a rich natural scent, feels great in the hand and develops a distinctive patina as it is used. Marks, colour changes and other signs of wear are part of what makes each piece its own.

I never buy ready-made leather goods to resell. Everything you see here is designed, cut, assembled and finished by me.

Simple designs, built to last

My designs are deliberately clean and understated, with an emphasis on function, longevity and everyday use. I'm drawn to classic British utility and objects that don't need unnecessary decoration or complication.

I make handmade leather wallets and cardholders, along with belts, brass wallet chains, lanyards, key holders and other practical everyday-carry pieces.

The aim is simple: make things worth carrying. Things you can use every day, that get better rather than worse with age.

Because I work with natural materials, no two pieces are exactly alike. Unless otherwise stated, the item shown in the photographs is the exact piece you'll receive.
