Museum Rocado Shell Cordovan & brown Buttero 5-slot wallet.
Museum Rocado Shell Cordovan & brown Buttero 5-slot wallet.
A compact bi-fold card wallet handmade in a combination of quality Italian leathers. The exterior uses marbled brown 'Museum' Shell Cordovan from the Rocado tannery in Italy. Cordovan leather has incredibly dense fibres so is famed for its strength and durability, and has a smooth, glossy finish that is instantly recognisable. It comes from a small part of a horse rear quarters, hence its rarity. On this piece I've used a section of the shell that shows the ROCADO tannery stamp on the inside, always nice to get that! The interior pockets are made in brown Buttero - another quality Italian leather with a smooth, matt finish used by premium manufacturers worldwide.
The design gives you 4 slots on the inside for cards or notes - one of the rear slots has internal stitching (hidden by the pocket on the back of the wallet) so it is the correct depth to hold cards. The other (left) rear slot is the full width, so it is good for small banknotes, receipts etc. The slots are pretty snug from new but will free up with use. There's a handy fast-access card pocket on the rear. It's all saddle-stitched together by hand using dark brown Xiange waxed thread.
